Take a tour of Brancepeth Castle and find out how it developed from a Saxon stronghold to become the seat of the mighty Neville family before being lost in the ill-fated Rising of the North.
Learn about its revival in Regency times to become the home of the family reputed to be Britain’s wealthiest commoners, before taking a number of sideways steps to become a regimental headquarters, an advanced research station and finally a family home again.
Tours take you through the main rooms of the castle and the medieval cellars and are led by a member of the family, so you can find out what it means to live in and look after a building like this.
